Straight forward , hearty rice and chickpea dish, infused with turmeric and topped with rich Tahini dressing. Works as a great accompaniment to middle eastern spiced meats and vegetables. Can be made vegetarian without the chicken broth.
Ingredients
1 cup Basmati Rice (sub with Long Grain, Brown rice varieties)
14 oz of cooked chickpeas or can.
2 Tbsp Turmeric
1/2 Tsp Cumin
Water or Chicken Broth (use recommended measurement)
Salt
Optional: one of the most decadent spices, black cardamom, 2 pods ground
Optional: Aleppo Pepper

Steps
Follow the liquid/cooking instructions based on the rice packaging.
In the rice/liquid mix, add spices (except for the aleppo pepper) and chickpeas.
Once the rice is finished, serve with the Tahini dressing and top with aleppo pepper.
Pairs great with similarly spiced meats like Chicken, Lamb and Beef, or fattoush salads, tabbouleh and grilled vegetables.
